Gun deaths caused by tangerines

cell phones

I often argue with people on the internet (*gasp*, who would have guessed)

For example, lets look at the gun death statistical evidence, in many states, gun violence increases with gun ownership, while in other states, gun violence decreases with gun ownership.

What if it was something entirely unrelated causing the variance? Most people will point at background check differences, % of people who own guns (discounting number of guns owned), or all kinds of other funky ways to look at the statistics.

As we know, year by year, there has been a growing trend in criminal activity (or has there?)

Let's look at another vital statistic in the gun control debate.

Thank you USDA for publicly published statistical data.

As you can see, fresh market oranges rates have been going down, while fresh market tangerines are going up on average, year for year.

Do we need fresh oranges to stay non violent? Do we need Lets compare this to gun statistics.

I spent some time googling. It's super crazy hard to find any data predating the last 10 years, but there has been a statistical increase in the data I can find up to 32k deaths per year.

Just to be distracting because it always pops up in every gun argument (even this faux one), this is gun ownership by country. Here are the facts. Gun deaths per something or another.

Oh wait, there is a source, that's cool. Gun control helps! or not... or does it matter on culture? Nasty culture leads to nasty violence.

Hey, wait a second, isn't Switzerland the highest gun ownership place on the planet or something? Oh wait, they win by default by having a stable economy and culturally being against violence.

Hmm, high gun ownership, and such lower freshmarket tangerine consumption that it isn't even statistically significant? That's it, high gun ownership has nothing to do with violence, and it's entire on the tangerines. LETS BAN FRESH TANGERINES
