Academia further mystified #1

So, it was seriously snowing yesterday.

Half the state shut down (Illinois, which by the way, is pronounced ill eh noy, as in, annoy, and not illinoise)

I check to see if I have to go to my discrete structures, and computer architecture class.

9am, I check... no report to emergency center, no email, no anything on website
I call school

"oh, we don't actually know yet, we're told they'll decide at 10am"

10am rolls by, nothing
10:30am, nothing
10:45 (I have to leave to go to school in 15 minutes), nothing
I call at 10:47 "Oh, we don't know yet"
11am I get an email that they're "Deciding at noon"

At 12:07p, I get an email that the school is closing at 2:30
Girlfriend gets a phonecall by the auto caller at 12:13 pm
I got a call at 12:16pm
She got *another* auto dialer call at 12:17 (this sentence has been brought to you by the department of redundancy has brought you this message)
She got a text from her mother, that her house phone got called from the auto dialer immediately afterwards.

The school runs classes 1 day a week for any given class from 9:30 to 12:30, 1 to 4, 4:30 to 7:20, and 7:30 to 10:20pm

Why 2:30? 2:30 doesn't make any sense

That means every teacher had to end class early, if they had a 1pm class.

We will never know their mindset... never ever.

Do note, this is a commuter school, with no dorms what so ever.
