Battle of the video players

There are tons of media players out there. A lot of them are good, but which one is the best? It's really frustrating to dig through all the information, so here, this is what I know.

So, most of you are familiar with the famous VLC player. VLC became super popular for it's all in one ability to play any video you can think of.

On linux, it's really just a simple media player that has more streaming library dependencies than the common alternatives.
Infact, if you have mplayer2 installed, install vlc, uninstall vlc afterwards, mplayer2 will have all of the playback ability vlc normally adds. This is because the libraries don't get removed, and mplayer2 can use them.

On windows, it's a bit different. VLC has it's own windows libraries. Unfortunately, it can have random visual problems, in the middle of an episode where it looks like part of a frame sticks, and the rest keeps on moving. This brought me to searching for alternatives.

The most popular alternative is media player classic. Media player classic needs a few things to have a wide range of playback. CCCP has traditionally been the codec pack of choice, but it's aged and hasn't been updated as much as it should be. K-lite codec pack covers most things, but it tends to be very bloated, and on lesser systems can be pretty bad.

Kawaii codec pack actually comes with media player classic-home cinema. It's practically everything you need. It was originally designed to play anime, but it really plays just about anything very well. You can find that here.

I'd recommend that personally. If it doesn't work out for you, I'd recommend media player classic home cinema + klite.

What media players do you guys like? Comment below.
